How to use our website
  • Each lesson comes with one or more artworks to present, background information, and links to provide you with even more details if you wish to dig deeper.

  • At the bottom of each page you will find a slideshow of the art from each lesson.  We recommend you use the slide show to present the art because the website sometimes does not show the full image.

  • You will also find additional material that includes coloring sheets, notes, mini-projects, and/or links to other forms of art related to the content such as movies and music.

  • Finally, do not hesitate to reach out to us with questions.  Our contact information is on the homepage.

This year we will explore how population and cultural movement intersects with art across the globe.  Art exists for so many reasons, but one of the most important is to teach, and art has often served as a visual aid to our world's political regims and religions.  Topics covered include ancient Assyrian art, Medieval Christian art and architecture, Judaic art and symbolism, and Viking conquest.  After that we spend the second half of the year looking at the United States with art from Hawaii, slavery and the Civil Rights movement.
